| Its not difficult to see why the owners of Villa Filipo picked this location to build their villa, the views are exceptional spanning the beautiful hills of the wonderful Apokoronos region in western Crete. Finished just this year this comfortable villa offers excellent family sized accommodation, spacious grounds and a good sized swimming pool (approximately 9m x 4m). Built on three levels the house comprises five bedrooms, sleeping up to 9 people, two bathrooms and a large open plan living area and kitchen. The top level of the house, built into the apex roof, has just one simple double bedroom, the middle level has three bedrooms, one twin and two doubles, each of which have private balconies, and one of the two bathrooms is also on this level, with a bath and shower attachment. The second bathroom (a shower room) is located on the ground floor as is the fifth bedroom that has a single bed. The living room (also on the ground level) has plenty of comfortable seating surrounding a feature fireplace and the modern kitchen has all conveniences you might require including a small dish washer.
The young gardens surround the house on two sides and, in one corner, there is a BBQ patio from where, like most locations in and around the house, you can enjoy the marvellous vistas.
Even with such a tranquil setting sight seeing opportunities abound from Villa Filipo! Close by the tiny village of Maza with its 13th century Byzantine church, Agios Nikolaos, can be reached on foot. Lake Kournas, the islands only freshwater lake, less than a fifteen minute drive away, is a prime spot for birdwatchers and a pleasant place for a cool swim or for wiling away a few hours on a pedalo after a leisurely lakeside lunch! The resort and long sandy beach of Georgioupolis can be reached in just ten minutes by car. Vyrsses, famous for its shady plane trees and excellent yoghurt and honey, and still very much a working Cretan village is the closest village to Villa Filipo and can be reached in about five minutes by car. It offers most amenities you might need during your stay as well as a handful of tavernas.
Villa Filipos' ideal location also offers easy access to both of the islands wonderfully atmospheric Venetian harbour towns Chania and Rethymnon.
