    We were very happy to chance upon the Aspalathos Villas whilst exploring the beautiful Apokoronos region of Western Crete. These four, individual, one bedroom villas are a rare find as most holiday villas in Crete have a minimum of three bedrooms, which is an expensive option for couples and small families who want the luxury of a private villa. A further bonus is the large private swimming pool exclusive to one of the villas and a second pool that’s shared by the other three villas. And, if that’s not enough, these attractive villas have the most spectacular rural position sitting high amongst the fertile valleys of this lovely region and all have stunning views across sprawling verdant hillsides, local villages and, to one side, the sea at the beachside resort of Georgioupolis.

    A natural stone paved pathway leads to the villas that are surrounded by colourful gardens. These comfortable villas have been well thought out and designed to assure maximum privacy and comfort. They each have one bedroom, a bathroom that includes a washing machine, a living room (where a third person or two children can occupy sofa beds), a kitchen/dining area, air-conditioning, TV and of course a patio with clear views of this fantastic area.

    Even with such a tranquil rural setting sight seeing opportunities abound from Aspalathos! Lake Kournas, the islands only freshwater lake, less than a fifteen minute drive away, is a prime spot for birdwatchers and a pleasant place for a cool swim or for wiling away a few hours with a good book on a pedalo! The long sandy beach of the resort of Georgioupolis can be reached in just ten minutes. Close by the traditional village of Maza with the 13th century Byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos can be reached on foot. Heading south the road climbs high amongst the spectacular peaks of the White Mountains and descends to Chora Sfakion where you can catch a boat to the picturesque resort of Loutro or to Agia Roumeli situated at the foot of the Samaria Gorge. Or why not really commune with nature and explore some of this lovely area on horse back. A local and well-reputed riding stable offers a choice of sunset beach rides and quiet nature treks for both beginners and experienced riders.

    Vyrsses, famous for its large plane trees and excellent yoghurt and honey, the largest village in the area can be reached in five or six minutes by car. Here you will find all amenities you might need during your stay including a choice of tavernas.

    With their enviable position and their comfortable surroundings we think Aspalathos Villas will be a firm favourite amongst our guests in 2005.
