| The Miramare Studios have a fantastic location sitting right next to the
beach in the southeast coastal resort of Makriyialos. This once-tiny fishing village has grown over the years to provide easy resort living whilst retaining a wonderfully laid-back Cretan atmosphere that you will find yourself relaxing into within a few hours of arriving here.
Your stay will centre round the wide choice of unpretentious and relaxed tavernas, all within easy walking distance of Miramare, and the beach that’s separated from the studios only by an unmade track. The studios are also conveniently positioned with in walking distance of all the resort’s facilities. You can wake up in the morning to the smell of freshly baked bread, pastries and cheese pies, for the local baker is located just down the path that leads to the studios. The village greengrocer is just across the road next to a café where you can find great morning coffee and fresh orange juice. Although tavernas
can be found within a minute’s walk of Miramare it also takes less than 10 minutes on foot to reach Makriyialos’ picturesque little harbour where fresh fish is brought in every day by local fishing boats and served at atmospheric waterside tavernas.
Water sports are available from the main beach, where you will find sun loungers and easy access to drinks and ice creams, boat trips
operate from the harbour to the beautiful white sand island of Koufonisi, and, if you looking for a little solitude you can find your own stretch of deserted beach within a 15 minute walk of Miramare.
Should you feel the need to have a change of scene for a day or two however, the car included in the price of the holiday makes it easy to get out and about and discover the traditional villages, Byzantine chapels, historical sites, remote beaches, exotic coast lines and
wonderful nature of this truly spectacular and unspoilt area. But that might all seem just too much bother with such easy living right on your doorstep!
Miramares’ spacious studios, four upstairs and four down, are furnished to an exceptionally high standard with a choice of twin or double beds, (one also has a divan, which can sleep a third person if required). All have shower rooms, simple kitchen facilities that include two cooking hobs, fridge, toaster, coffee machine, and, of course, each has a private balcony that looks directly to the sea! |
