| George Studios are found next to the sea on the edge of Tersanas Village on the Akrotiri Peninsula. When we initially came across the studios it was their excellent position, standing alone and overlooking the bay, a small tranquil oasis, which first impressed us. The second thing we liked was the very personable George and his wife Bing who own and run the studios and do their utmost to ensure the comfort of their guests.
The 12 studios, 6 upstairs and 6 downstairs each has a choice of two balconies or patios, giving you the option of sun or shade anytime of day. And most importantly every studio has a sea-facing balcony, essential for enjoying the sea views, the spectacular sunsets and the relaxing setting.
Simply furnished to a high standard the studios all have air conditioning, two beds, a simple kitchenette and a shower room. The ground floor studios also have a sofa that provides an extra bed if needed.
The Akrotiri, which is particularly wonderful in spring when everywhere
comes alive with colour and the air is cool and clear, has a wide choice of beaches, the furthest no more than a 15 minute drive away and the closest, Tersanas Beach, about a 5 minute walk from the studios. This pretty sandy bay has a delightful shallow cove with sun beds and parasols and a small snack bar. If five minutes seems a bit too far you can swim at George Studios, which has a tiny beach and beautifully clear water. Don’t be surprised if you are joined here by a handful of ducks that reside at George Studios and daily enjoy paddling across the ocean!
The nearby villages of Chorafakia and Stavros have local mini-markets and a choice of tavernas to entice you with tasty home cooked regional dishes.
A further benefit of George Studios is their close proximity to the wonderful historical harbour town of Chania as well as the huge variety of attractions Western Crete has to offer such as the 18 km Samaria Gorge, Cretes freshwater lake, Lake Kournas and the tropical lagoon of Elafonisi Island.
But at Georges' you might find there is more than enough to keep you happy right on your doorstep; as one of our guests told us, (who have now enjoyed 4 holidays at Georges'), their favourite activity during a stay at Georges’ is a visit to Chania market for some giant prawns to consume on their balcony with a cold glass of wine while watching the sun dip into the sea at the end of yet another perfect day!!
