| Paleochora
Paleochora, situated on the southwest coast of Crete, is an attractive resort clustered at the end of a narrow peninsula, sea surrounding it on both sides. The beautiful coastline here, its temperate climate, a rich warm local hospitality and the village’s relaxed atmosphere attract visitor’s back year after year. The resort offers just about everything you might be searching for during your holiday. If you want to relax Paleochoras' huge sandy beach and the little coves dotted west of the village are perfect for idling the day away. If you want to explore catch a boat to the beautiful lagoon of Elafonisi Island, where the sand is tinged pink by tiny shells and the water is a deep tropical blue. Join the daily boat that heads east to Sougia (the closest resort to Paleochora), Agia Roumeli (clustered at the foot of the Samaria Gorge) and Loutro (a tiny resort accessible only by boat or on foot). Take a sunset dolphin spotting cruise or sail to the tiny island of Gavdos. Hire bicycles or explore on foot coastal tracks and picturesque hill paths that meander through centuries-old olive groves to traditional villages. Join a guided walk to the Samaria Gorge or catch a bus to the north coast for a day trip to Chania, the captivating Capital of the west. The opportunities are endless! In the evening Paleochoras’ 'main street' and promenade is closed to traffic, the tables and chairs of the tavernas and friendly cafes spill across the road, the craft shops stay open until late and locals and visitor’s alike take in the atmosphere. The choice of tavernas is abundant. You can enjoy fresh fish, pasta, pizza and traditional Cretan cuisine overlooking the water as the sun dips below the horizon. A perfect end to a perfect day! Whatever your choice we feel Paleochora has something for everyone and, like many others, we are sure that once you’ve settled in to this relaxed friendly place you’ll already be planning your next visit! There are also four studios at Loupassis that are suitable for singles or couples. They are self-contained with two or three beds, a kitchenette, a shower room and a shared veranda. Prices available on request All of our properties in Paleochora offer the choice of a car OR taxi transfers (for arrivals at Chania Airport) included in the price. A car is not essential for a stay in Paleochora. |
