The Adrakos apartments are situated on the brow of the hill just off the road that winds between Agios Nikolaos and Elounda. This favourable position gives them the most magnificent and uninterrupted views across the beautiful bay of Elounda.
On your doorstep are the two most popular resorts in the area, Agios Nikolaos, a lively harbour town with an excellent variety of shops and an abundance of cafes for whiling away the day 'watching the world go by', and Elounda, a pretty fishing village and resort, with romantic waterside tavernas, outdoor cafes, bars, beaches and a colourful fishing harbour.
Adrakos has fourteen newly refurbished spacious apartments, consisting of studios for two and one bedroom apartments that can sleep up to three comfortably. Every apartment has its own spectacular view from a front facing balcony or patio, air-conditioning, a kitchenette and a modern bathroom with a luxury shower. There is a lovely swimming pool and a little taverna with a wood oven where the owner, Kostas, is happy to arrange freshly prepared Cretan dishes if you let him know beforehand.
Beyond Elounda the road follows the coast to Plaka where it seems you can reach out and touch the Island of Spinalonga, situated in the middle of the beautiful bay. Spinalonga was inhabited by the Venetians in the 15th Century and later used as a leper colony. Ruins of the fortress survive today, an eerie but fascinating place.
Whatever pace of life you enjoy there's plenty to see and do; the archaeological sites of Lato and Knossos, the traditional village of Kritsa, the Byzantine church of Panagia Kera, the regions meandering walking paths, boat trips, beaches and water sports and of course sampling the tasty local cuisine. Alternatively just bring a good book and enjoy the views from your balcony!
